Pending validation by the race marshals, Yamaha Raptors have scooped the first four places in stage four of the 2010 Dakar Rally. Argentine rider Alejandro Patronelli came out on top riding the event’s ATV of choice, Yamaha’s big bore liquid cooled YFM700R.
With a time of 2h13’29, the local rider has won the stage just 1’06’’ ahead of his younger brother Marcos Patronelli and 1’14 ahead of Czech rider Martin Plechaty.
In the overall standings, the Patronelli brothers remain firmly in the lead with younger sibling Marcos ahead of his older brother Alejandro by 8’15. Fellow countryman and Raptor rider Sébastian Halpern is third 26’50 from the leader.
Meanwhile in the motorcycle class, David Frétigné recovered slightly from his disastrous third stage to place 11th while Helder Rodrigues finished the stage in ninth to remain third overall in the standings 24 minutes off leader Cyril Despres.
Fastest Yamaha rider of the day was Frenchman Olivier Pain in eighth. Spaniard Marc Coma won the stage with arch rivals Casteu and Despres trailing two and three minutes behind.
