After finishing second in 2009, Argentine rider Marcos Patronelli has gone one better at the 2010 Dakar in the quad category finishing 2 hours 22min 59sec ahead of his older brother Alejandro Patronelli and 5 hours 07min 31sec ahead of Spain’s Juan Manuel Gonzalez Corominas.
Fellow Raptor rider Rafal Sonik from Poland won the final stage into Buenos Aires but he failed in his bid to finish fourth overall by just a few minutes out of 70 hours of racing.
Portuguese rider Ruben Faria won his first special stage in this 2010 Dakar, his third stage victory in any Dakar, 3min 45sec ahead of Norway’s Pal Anders Ullevalseter and 3min 57sec ahead of WE450F mounted Portuguese rider, Helder Rodrigues.
David Frétigné’s fifth position in the standings came under attack by Alain Duclos who was just three minutes behind him. But tyre problems experienced by Duclos held him back.
Rodrigues, Frétigné and Olivier Pain finished fourth, fifth and ninth overall and 2-3-4 in the 450cc category which was won by Lopez Contardo.
