Top 10 finish for Yamaha Teams in 2011 Golden Classic

14 Nov 2011

Two Yamaha teams contested the 2011 Golden Classic at Lake Windamere on the 4th and 5th November, the 19th year of targeting Golden Perch at this trophy dam.

Spectacular weather greeted 60 teams for two sessions of hotly contested angling which saw the two Yamaha Teams taking out top 10 finishes with Team B boating a staggering 64 fish for the tournament!

Team B consisting of Dan Power, Training Co-ordinator for Yamaha Australia, Vitda Pangnanouvong from Yamaha Marketing and Dave Shelton finished a very credible 4th, with Dave also taking out runner-up for the overall champion angler category.

Team A with John McDonald, Dealer Support for NSW Marine, Gary Lowe and Murray Chapman finished in 6th position in only the second outing for Yamaha Marine’s new competition boat. Both Yamaha teams were powered by Yamaha’s sensational new F70A outboard.

Showing the way again at the top of the leader board was Team Clancy, taking out their 3rd Golden Classic in a row. The lucky winner of the Yamaha four stroke 4 horsepower motor this year was Stewart Palmer, a Bathurst local who was stunned to walk away with such a fantastic prize.

Next year’s 20th anniversary Golden Classic is shaping up to be a huge event and organisers Pat Morris and Ian Miller are already well underway in their planning which will see a bigger and better event again for this milestone year!

“Yamaha Australia are pleased to be involved with such a well run and highly regarded competition which holds great value to us as a sponsor. We are fishing alongside amateur teams of families, mates, juniors and women alike who are serious about their fishing and boating, and they are a large part of our core outboard market” says John McDonald from Yamaha Australia “We’re already counting down for next year!”
