All new YFM125R Raptor released

Yamaha has released a new sports ATV - the YFM125R Raptor - which is aimed to bridge the gap between the 90cc and 250cc sports ATV market.

Yamaha’s Raptor YFM125R is designed to offer entry level riders a full sports experience thanks to an air-cooled 4-stroke SOHC single-cylinder 124cc engine that is tuned to give even, usable torque across the entire speed range for the kind of “ease of use” that good drivability provides.

Unlike pseudo sports ATVs that feature automatic transmission and reverse gear that don’t contribute directly to the sport riding experience, the Raptor 125 runs a sweet shifting five speed manual gearbox with traditional hand operated clutch setup.

The power unit is mounted in a lightweight steel frame that is characterised by an excellent balance of rigidity and strength. Also featuring a double wishbone type front suspension and Monocross rear suspension, this model adopts components throughout its chassis that provide the performance for entry-level sport riding.

Raptor 125 is engineered throughout for reduced weight and low centre of gravity to ensure riders can enjoy the sport riding experience.

Designed with the basic performance features of a sport ATV, the Raptor 125 is a key model in Yamaha Motor’s product strategy of providing a step-up link between the youth-oriented models and the higher-spec all-round sport models of the Raptor series, and on to the pure sport YFZ series models.

By introducing an entry-level sport model to nurture future fully-fledged sport model users, Yamaha Motor shows its determination to stimulate the industry and strengthen the foundation for future growth.

The design of the Raptor 125 is characterised by a fusion of the dynamism and strength of the Raptor series models inherited from the deluxe sports model Raptor 660R introduced in 2003 and the light, agile pure sports model YFZ450R. This design is a product of the same DNA as the Raptor 250 that was built to be a machine that offers the joy of all-round and pure sports riding.

This may be an entry-level machine, but it doesn’t compromise on sporty performance and the exterior design emphasises that unique character of the Raptor 125.
