Over a year ago three intrepid Sydney mates set out to break the Guinness World Record for the longest ATV journey. After thoroughly researching their trans-global trip, the trio chose Yamaha Grizzly YFM700FAPs to complete their mission.

After 14 months facing the ultimate ATV challenge, the Quad Squad smashed the existing 27,000km record and have currently travelled 48,000km as they head onto their last leg from Newcastle to Sydney on 22 October 2011. All motorcyclists are invited to join the Quad Squad on this welcome home ride and to celebrate their incredible achievement.

Valerio De Simoni (23), Jamie Kenyon (24) and Ted Davant (26), set out to break the Guiness World Record for the longest ATV journey by riding overland across the world from Istanbul to Sydney. The epic and life changing adventure took a full 14-months, across 38 countries spanning Europe, Africa and Australia. In the process of smashing the existing record the team raised $30,000 for the Oxfam charity.

Tragedy struck the team on 12 April when a car lost control in Malawi and killed Valerio De Simoni. Jamie and Ted returned to Australia to bury their best mate. But undeterred by this tragic event, the pair returned to Africa to finish what they had started. “He didn't have the choice to continue so we decided we must finish what we had started in Val’s honour,” explains Jamie.

Now with the help of various government departments and the Motorcycle Council of NSW, the Quad Squad invite riders to join them on their final leg across the Harbour Bridge into Sydney. A large media presence, including Channel 7 helicopter crew, will capture the event. Details of the welcome home ride follow…

8.00am: Meet at Nobby Beach Car Park for 8.45am departure.
10:00am: Pick up location 1: Twin Service Stations off F3 freeway– 70kms from start location - Service Centre, Warnervale NSW 2259. 10.30am: Pick up location 2: Old Pacific Highway, Gosford corner Quarry Rd (The Slab) – 32kms from Twin Service Stations. 10.45am: Pick up location 3: Mount White Cafe, Drive by pick up
11.00am: Pick up location 4: Old Berowra Toll Gates – 35kms from Pick Up 2
12:30pm: Crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Finishing up at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Curcular Quay - 35kms from Pick Up 3.
