Bittersweet Weekend for Vic- YJR

19 Apr 2013

Round one of Junior Victorian Championships have been run and won last weekend at the Maffra-Sale Motocross club. The weekend was  bitter sweet for YJR Vic riders Cody Dyce and Jed Beaton as both showed flashes of brilliance only to have a final moto injury sour the day.

Cody Dyce stepped up to the 12 – 15 years 85cc class and is possibly the youngest rider in the field but this didn't stop him from having high expectations at his home track. Cody raced to 2-4-2 finishes to round the day out in second place overall. Cody showed great speed and determination over the weekend improving with every race with his third race being his strongest showing.

“I had a fun weekend but I have a few things I would like to improve before next round so I will work with Cameron to ensure I’m right for the next event,” Cody offers.

Beaton lined up on his YZ250F on a weekend where he contested two classes. He kicked his weekend off to plan with him totally dominating the competition with him easily winning all three races, the first race by over 40 seconds.

Jed also raced his 125 and won the first moto easily. Race two, Jed had to work hard to come back from a first turn pileup and by the time he got going he was over 30 seconds down. Jed raced hard  all the way back to a close third place.

In his final moto for the weekend things didn't go to plan after an average start. Jed was working hard to get to the front and after over jumping a jump he landed in a braking bump which caused a big get off. He landed awkwardly and broke his wrist as a result.

“I was so happy with my bikes on the weekend and they were handling unreal. I felt so good on the track but a small mistake turned a great weekend bad,” said a dejected Beaton.

"I was super happy with the boys racing, Cody improved with every race and learns so quickly for someone so young. Jed totally dominated his races and was riding so good but the crash really put a downer on the weekend," explains team manager, Cameron Taylor.
