Cru Halliday clean sweeps Wakefield Park
Mike Jones suffered a fall and a concussion

Bittersweet Weekend for YRT with Yamalube

23 Apr 2012

It was a case of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows as the riders of the Yamaha Racing with Yamalube team experienced polar opposites of the spectrum at round two of the FX Superbike Championship.

Cru Halliday overcame a crash to win all three legs of the Formula OZ class on his Yamaha R1. As was the case last round, Cru led early in each race and was able to maintain the lead in every leg. It was another whitewash for Halliday and after two rounds remains undefeated in the championship.

Teammate Mike Jones didn’t have the same weekend as Halliday. Jones fell from his R6 and took a heavy hit to the head and was knocked out during the opening 600cc leg. He lay motionless on the track for a few minutes but slowly came to his senses as the medical team was at his aid.

Jones was then sent immediately to hospital for a range of tests and scans and therefore unable to compete for the remainder of the round. The tests were mainly pre cautionary and the initial results have cleared him of any major issues, although he will be sore and sorry for the next few days.

“It was a tough weekend and hard on the emotions,” states John Redding. “Cru did his usual job and is in great form while Mike took a heavy hit to the head that we thought best to have immediately checked out. Thankfully everything looks ok at this stage and it was a case of mild concussion that will just require him to lay low for a few days.” Redding adds.
