Cody Dyce on his way to two state championships
Liam Andrews claimed third on his YZ85

Dyce Takes VIC MX Double

10 Aug 2015

The fourth and final round of Victorian Junior Motocross Championship was held this last weekend hosted by the Blue Rock Motorcycle Club. With Melbourne in the grips of a full on winter YJR riders Cody Dyce and Liam Andrews were faced with an extremely muddy and freezing cold Saturday at the races.

Cody was defending his 15 point lead on his beloved YZ125 so he knew good starts and minimal mistakes were the order of the day. The days’ program was reduced to 2 rounds to help cope with the slop and Cody did exactly as planned by winning both races in tight battles all race long even after a small fall in both races. These results extended his points lead and gave him the championship.

Liam's aim of the day was to defend his third place in the points. His day on his YZ85 day got off to a rough start with problems in practice meaning he only got a lap to get used to the slippery track.

Liam lost his goggles in both races on the very first lap of both races but did a great job to soldier on minimizing his mistakes to finish fifth for the day to get the points needed to finish the series a strong third overall.

“What a day? I was super nervous and really wanted to hold on to third overall in my first year on the bigger 85 class. It was such a tough day but I'm so happy to reach my goal of a overall podium, I can't wait for next year to jump up a few steps," Liam said.

Sunday came and Cody was greeted with a much improved track after track crews worked to well after midnight to transform the track. Cody had a 14 point lead on the 250 so all he needed to do was ride smart but winning is what he loves to do and Cody rode a perfect day for three race wins and a perfect weekend taking home the 250 championships as well.

"I could not be happier right now,” Dyce said excitedly. “Two championships in the one year and my first on the 250. My bikes were just awesome this weekend with great starts making life much easier. I really have to thank everyone involved in the team, especially my family," Cody said.

Team Manager, Cameron Taylor, was very happy with his team at the end of the event.

"Cody rode like champion this weekend and I'm so proud of everything he's done this year so far. He learns and improves every time he races. Liam rode with a lot of heart today in such tough conditions, another year under his belt and I have no doubt he will be fighting for wins in 2016."
