Glenn Allerton on board his Formula Oz Yamaha R1

Glenn Allerton Impresses in Yamaha AFX National Debut

1 Nov 2010

On a Yamalube / YRT supported Yamaha R1, Glenn Allerton made his Australian Formula Extreme Championship debut taking out the Red Baron Formula Oz class at Eastern Creek over the weekend.

Allerton took up the guest ride with Yamaha to kick start his development on the bikes that he will be competing on in the upcoming FX National Summer Series starting in December.

The anything goes Formula Oz class enables teams and riders a broader range of bike development with Allerton racing a bike based on Kevin Curtain’s championship winning 1000cc but shod with Dunlop slick tyres and personalized suspension settings.

Allerton won the Eastern Creek round with 1-2-1 performance and seemed right at home on the Yamaha from the opening laps.

Under the watchful eye of YRT, John Redding was satisfied with his new recruit’s results.

“Glenn did a great job on the weekend and fitted in perfectly with the YRT crew. He showed great speed on the bike and was totally professional in the pits and working with the team.”

“We look forward to working closely with Glenn throughout the FX National Summer Series and look for big things out of him in the coming months,” Redding offered.

Allerton will join the existing Yamaha team of Kevin Curtain, Rick Olson and Pat Medcalf for the three round summer series, kicking off at Eastern Creek in early December.
