GYTR Rockstar Yamaha Rack Up Another Top 10 Performance at Super X
25 Oct 2010
The GYTR Rockstar Yamaha pairing of Luke Styke and Harley Quinlan found themselves inside the top 10 for the second week running at round two of the Super X championship held in Canberra on Saturday Night.
The young duo experiencing their first full season of SuperX continue to race with maturity beyond their years and rack up some impressive results against more established names in the Pro Lites class.
Luke Styke got his starts wired and was a front runner in all three races. Styke battled hard for position on the tricky track and came away with 5-7 finishes in the opening two legs. Unfortunately race three didn’t fare as well as he crashed while inside the top five in the sand section and was unable to finish the race.
His 5-7-DNF moto scores saw Styke finish the night in eighth place and maintain his top 10 position in the series standings so far.
“Tonight was a bit better for me. I still don’t feel like I am at my best, but I was competitive tonight and wanted to be up the front. Had the last race been better I would have had a good result, but I was the one who crashed and have no one to blame for it but myself,” Styke said.
Harley Quinlan continued his steep learning curve in supercross facing wet and rutted conditions for the first time. Quinlan battled on bravely to post 10th overall on the night despite a crash in the final moto while in good position.
Despite a tough finish to the night, Quinlan remains in sixth overall for the series and will continue to improve in supercross as he gains experience.
“I struggled to read the dirt last night. What I thought looked tacky was actually slippery, especially on the start line. But it’s something I will learn from and ensure I don’t make the same mistakes next time in conditions like these,” he stated.
Both riders will now spend the week preparing for the Launceston round of the championship and look to maintain their run of top 10 finishes.
