GYTR Rockstar Yamaha To Build On Good Start at MX Nats
30 Mar 2011
After a successful opening round at the 2011 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals, the duo of Luke Arbon and Shaun Redhead look to continue building the foundations of their championship aspirations at round two this weekend at Appin Raceway, near Sydney.
New recruit, Luke Arbon got off to a flying start at the opening round winning the day on the back of two race wins and two second places. It was a consistently good showing from the 18year old South Australian but he is only too aware that there are a lot of riders in the Under 19 division that are capable of spoiling the party.
“Round one was good to me and I was able to get a great result but you have to move on pretty quickly and keep working hard for the following week otherwise the rest of the pack can pass you by in a hurry,” said the mature Arbon.
“So, for me I took a day or two off after Broadford and then it was right back into it again as we still have eight rounds and 32 races to go before this is over and the hard work has only really just begun,” Arbon states.
Shaun Redhead also showed plenty of heart and speed at round one in a stirring performance that saw him land in third spot. Redhead gained a lot of confidence from that result and quickly put it into practice at a local Queensland event last week where he again raced well.
Redhead is also aware that this championship has just started and there is still a lot of improvement in him if he is to win this years’ championship.
“It was nice to get a reward for the hard work I put in before Broadford and get up on the podium. It has also made me realize that this is what I love doing and want to keep doing it as it sure beats working a real job,” Redheads states.
“Getting third was good, but now I want more!”
Round Two of the Rockstar MX Nationals fires in to action at Appin Raceway on Sunday at 8.30am. For more information on the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals: www.mxnationals.com.au
