Halliday Leads YRT Charge at Winton

4 Aug 2014

Yamaha Racing Team’s (YRT) Cru Halliday continued his steep learning curve in the Australasian Superbike Championship (ASC) with a fine fourth place finish on board his Yamaha R1 as he led home a strong performance from the YRT crew.

On a cold, sometimes wet and typical Victorian winter weekend at Winton, Halliday was fast and aggressive on his way to fourth place for the round on the back of his 4-3-6 results in the three championship races contested. At each round, Halliday has picked up his pace and is now a constant threat to the leaders and looking to continue his climb up the ASC rankings.

Halliday now sits fifth in the championship.

“The weekend went pretty well for me and we continue to develop the bike at each round. The team continues to put in a big effort and we are seeing the rewards each week as we get closer to the lead pack,” Halliday states.

Robbie Bugden also continues to make improvements each time on the bike and he came home in sixth place in a very tight knit group of riders. Just five points separated third place to sixth and a slightly better result in race one may have seen Bugden on the podium.

He finished the round with 6-4-5 results and will keep building speed as he spends more time on the R1. Bugden currently holds down sixth in the series after round four.

Rick Olson rounded the day out in 10th place but looked to regain some form in the final race with an eighth place finish. Olson is in 10th place and will look to improve at the final rounds.

“It was a pretty good day for the team,” states team manager, John Redding. “All three guys raced well with both Cru and Robbie in podium contention. Both riders are optimistic about their chances at the remaining rounds, so there is a good vibe in the team and we can make it happen at Wakefield Park at the next round.”

Round five action will take place on September 12 to 14 at Wakefield Park, NSW.
