Luke Arbon to Partner Styke in Serco SX Surge

South Australia’s Luke Arbon will fill the vacated Luke Clout seat on the factory Serco Yamaha MX2 team for the 2013 Australian Supercross Championship starting in September.

Arbon, who has been racing in his home state of South Australia for much of this year, will get the opportunity of a lifetime as gets to compete on the MX Nationals championship leading YZ250F Serco Yamaha in the six round series.

“I was pretty excited to get the phone call from Serco boss Gavin Eales and get the chance to race their bikes,” Arbon stated. “The team has proven to be the best in the MX2 class and I look forward to working with the team and getting the results they need.”

In 2011, Arbon finished the Super X championship in fourth place in the MX2 division, highlighted with a podium finish at the Maitland round. He was unable to compete in the 2012 series due to injury but is now 100% fit and ready to get back into the stadiums and bang some bars.

“I had a great series in 2011 and I raced a YZ250F then with the GYTR Yamaha team. It’s great to be back on the same bike and I can’t thank Yamaha and the Serco Yamaha team enough for their continued support,” Arbon ends.

When asked about choosing Arbon, Gavin Eales had this to say.

“We looked through the results over the past few seasons in Australian Championships and also at some overseas riders but we decided to continue to invest in Australian talent and Luke’s supercross ability as well as previous results impressed us.

“He already knows the bike extremely well, is within the Yamaha program and I’m sure he will be a great fit for the Serco Yamaha team and post some great results for us this year.”

The opening round of the championship kicks off with a double header at Darwin in September in conjunction with the Australian Superbike Championship before moving through Mt. Gambier, Phillip Island and Toowoomba.
