Milner Takes Control At A4DE

14 Aug 2014

CDR Yamaha’s Daniel Milner is the clubhouse leader of the 2014 Australian Four Day Enduro, in Dungog, NSW, as the event hits the half way stage. Milner led home another strong day for the Yamaha teams and riders and again blue bikes continue to clog the top 10 outright positions.

The leader board is tight with the top four riders all within one minute of each other and the championship win is promising to go down to the wire. Yamaha is also doing well in the class battles, leading both the E1 and E3 categories as well as podium positions in the others.

Day two again saw plenty of dust and dry conditions as riders battled not only the dry, shifting dirt, but reduced visibility making it a real challenge for all involved. Tomorrow appears to be the same but in football terms, day three is the premiership quarter and all riders will need to have a strong showing to be in with a shot at winning Australia’s most prestigious off road motorcycle event.

E1 – 250cc
Tom McCormack put a tough couple of days behind him to lead into the lead of the E1 class. By his own admission, he struggled to find a flow on the opening day but moved into the lead throughout day two and holds a 30 second gap back to his nearest rival.

E2- 450cc
Yamaha riders are doing the business here with Milner leading the way on his YZ450F. Overnight leader Chris Hollis (CDR Yamaha) slipped to third in the standings after a difficult morning but was able to limit the damage and be well in condition on his WR450F with two days to go.

Josh Strang (Yamaha Australia) holds down fourth but with only one minute between himself and Milner, he is well placed and looking ominous as Strang has plenty of international experience on his side. Beau Ralston (Active8 Yamaha) sits sixth in class just ahead of Josh Green (Active8 Yamaha) who had a tough day and will be looking to rebound on day three.

E3- Over 450cc
The E3 class is just as tight, with the top three riders all separated by just 39 seconds after an hour and half racing. Stefan Granquist (Active8 Yamaha) lies in third place and is riding well and is the real dark horse of the E3 category.

VETS
Kirk Hutton (Yamaha Australia) slipped back to second after day two just behind Damien Smith. The 30 second margin isn’t insurmountable but Hutton will need to make things happen tomorrow to pour the pressure on Smith in the final stages.

Women’s
Again the Yamaha girls of Emilie Karlsson and Jemma Wilson sit third and fourth respectively after day two of competition.

Day three is set to be a championship defining day and the top four off road riders in the country are going for the sports’ biggest prize. Dry conditions look likely again before some showers are forecast on the final day.
