Yamaha Junior Racings Big Finish to NSW State MX Champs
12 Jul 2011
The NSW YJR Team pulled through cyclonic conditions with strong results at the final round of the NSW Motocross Championship held at Nowra, on the states south coast.
Jordan Bissaker continued his strong form from the previous round to deliver 1-1-5 moto results on his YZ 250F in the 15 years class and take the round win. He backed up on his YZ 125 with 2-2-2 finishes for second overall and left the round feeling confident heading into the Australian Championships later in the year.
The big last round effort from Bissaker saw him round of the championship in second place on the 125 and third overall on the 250cc machine.
“It was a good weekend, I feel like I’m riding well at the moment. I wanted to do better in my final 250 moto but a few small mistakes cost me, otherwise I’m pretty happy with how it went.”
Mackenzie Tricker battled in amongst the boys again, holding her own in the competitive 15 years 250cc class. Having to fight for every position for the entire race Mackenzie managed to complete the weekend seventh overall including a top five moto finish.
“It all went ok, especially the first race when I finished 5th. I wasn’t feeling too good as I’ve been a bit sick this week so to finish well inside the top 10 is ok.”
Brendon Walther entered the final round outside the top five in the championship points in the 9-u12 85cc class. But he dug deep at Nowra to produce 1-3-2 results for second overall at the round and a big chunk of championship points. That points haul saw Walther climb to second overall in the championship.
“I had some good races this weekend and it was nice to have a dry track for once. I’m happy I moved up in the championship, especially after a bit of bad luck at the first few rounds.”
