Round five of the Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series hit the country town of Kingaroy over the weekend with the Queensland Yamaha Junior Racing Team of Joel Dinsdale and Wilson Todd in spectacular form.

Combined, the duo lined up for nine races and collectively they won all nine races including three class wins in another successful round for the team. Both riders have now taken control of the points lead in their respective classes and are in top form with three rounds remaining.

Joel Dinsdale is turning into a one man winning machine. Competing in the 13 to 15 years 125cc and the 13 to 14 years 250cc, Dinsdale won all six motos he competed in and along the way clocked the fastest lap in each and every race.

This was Dinsdale’s first trip to the red clay of Kingaroy but by the end of practice he was in control and up to speed. Each moto saw Dinsdale sweep to the front early and break his opposition with relentless speed and well constructed racing. He now heads the points table in both classes and looking forward to the remainder of the series.

“The track today was hard pack, pretty smooth and not overly difficult so winning a race was going to be more about consistent speed and not trying to blow the other riders off the track in the opening lap. I made good starts in each race and clean passes so I was happy with the weekend and both my bikes were running awesome,” Dinsdale offered.

Wilson Todd continues to amaze with his speed on his YZ85. In his first year in the 12 to 15 years 85cc division, many expected 13 year old Todd to be competitive and in the lead group but not dominating races. Todd simply dominated on the weekend, winning all three 85cc races in a cool and calculated manner.

The 13 to 15 years 125cc class wasn’t as kind to him as a first turn crash in race two put paid to a top day on the bigger bike. Still, he maintains sixth in the class for the series, only a handful of points from third and is impressive in his first year in the 125cc division.

“The 85 went pretty well. I holeshot two of them which makes things easier while I had to pass a couple of riders in the other one,” Todd explains.

“The 125 race was frustrating as I wasn’t getting good starts and it’s hard to make up time on a track like this. But, I’m still running good in the championship and hopefully with a couple of good rounds to finish off, I can still make the podium for the series,” Todd finishes.

The Queensland YJR boys now prepare for the Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championships this long weekend at Coolum. Boys riders look forward to the challenge of riding the rough and tough circuit and are fit and ready to go.
