The Queensland Yamaha Junior Development Team of Joel Dinsdale and Wilson Todd produced another top shelf performance at round two of the Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championships held at Dysart in Central Queensland over the weekend.
Both riders handled the extremely hot and muggy conditions to close in on the championship with one round remaining. But with 75 points still available, no rider can afford to sit back and take it easy.
Joel Dinsdale (Bullet Bikes) is a man possessed and went on a winning spree on the weekend. Three times he pushed his YZ85cc to the start line in the 12 to 13 years 85cc and he returned with three wins. He then leapt on board his YZ250F and went about matching his 85cc results. Dinsdale took an amazing six wins from six starts and now leads both the 12 to 13 years and 13 to 14 years Lites with one round to go.
“How cool is that? You always want to win every race you enter, but it doesn’t happen very often. I am stoked to win every race over the weekend and it has given me a good points lead in both classes. I couldn’t be happier with my bikes or the way things went today,” Dindsale offered.
With six races completed in each of Dinsdale’s class, he has returned six straight wins on his 85cc and from the six contested on the 250F, he has won five and taken third in another. Dinsdale is in red hot form at the moment.
Wilson Todd (Steve Hunts Motorcycles) also went about the business of staking his claim for a state title in the 9 to 11 years 85cc. Despite crashing in moto one, Todd worked hard to take fifth, then rebounded winning the next moto and taking second in the third and final leg to round out the day in second place, but more importantly now leads the championship.
Todd also continued his success in the 10 to 12 years 65cc with 1-1-2 results over the weekend to extend his lead in the championship.
“I had a nasty crash in the first 85 race, but a managed to shake that off and finish off the weekend strongly. The points in the 85cc are real close, so I will have to be at my best at Roma to bring home the championship. I am looking forward to it already.”
The third and final round of the Yamaha Queensland Motocross Championships takes place at Roma on April 24/25. Both QYJDT riders will be looking for a big finish to the championship to ensure their success continues.
