Ryder Kingsford in Fine Form at East Coast MX

25 Jul 2017

NSW Yamaha Junior Racing young gun, Ryder Kingsford is in fine form as he prepares for the up -coming Australian Junior Motocross Championships in Horsham, Victoria, during October.

He continued his preparations at the final round of the East Coast Motocross Series at Cessnock, NSW where he took the win in the 9-11 years 85cc class with 1-1-1 results in the three motos contested.

He had to work for his race wins on the weekend, coming from deep in the field in the third race to charge his way into the lead and complete his perfect score for the round.

Despite missing a round due to a broken collar bone, Kingsford still managed to finish fourth overall but more importantly, is showing good form as the Australian championships approach.

“The weekend was good fun and I like the Maitland track,” Ryder said. “It was good to race with the guys and even though I stuffed my start in the last race, I liked that I was able to pass everyone and get to the front.

“It’s not long now to the Australian championships so I will keep riding as much as I can and be ready when it starts,” he said.

Younger brother took the win in the 65cc division with 2-1-1 results. Kayd had been sidelined for a while with injury but after dusty off the cob webs in race one, he was good to go for the final two races and managed to pull through for the round win.

Unfortunately, the news wasn’t as good for team mate, Bayley Clancy. He was in podium contention on both his 85 and 125cc machines when in the second 125 moto he got his foot caught under the bike and was forced from the track.

He was taken to Hospital for X-Rays but it was difficult to get an exact reading as the swelling was too great. He is booked in for further tests this week.

“It was an eventful weekend,” explains team manager, Darren Thompson. Ryder and Kayd both had good results and rode well, while Bayley was also looking good until he injured his foot. Hopefully, he will be fit and ready to go for the junior nationals and the team will be at full strength,” Darren ends.
