The MRA club hosted the third round of the SAMX Titles this past weekend with the track in perfect condition. The boys went to town on the track and produced the team's best outing of the year. The MX gods were kind as bad weather was forecast but near perfect conditions treated all the riders.

Nick Day came into this round knowing his home track advantage could pay off being a local Gilman boy. He really wanted to get the round win and make a huge claim for a state championship. With great starts Nick stepped up and took all three moto wins in a great display of riding in the 13-15 years 250cc class.

On the 125 he managed 3-1-6 results for the day, although not quite what he wanted on the 125, his riding was the best of the year today and he finished fourth for the round.

"My start practice definitely paid off today on the 250F, being top two every start and clean sweeping the class. The 125 wasn't as good as I hoped, going down twice but still coming away with fourth overall. I'm pretty happy with my results and looking forward to Renmark," stated Day.

Thomas Larwood came into the round looking to take the victory. His smooth and consistent riding style combined with his consistent speed he took 2-1-1 results to take the days honours.

"I didn’t get the starts I wanted today, going into the next round I will be working hard on my corner speed but overall I very happy to take out first place," said Larwood.

Oscar Maule came to Gillman with a point to prove. He wanted to build on his final moto at Mount Gambier and show the field he is here to leave a mark. Having been practicing his starts, Oscar rocketed out of the gate in moto one with a great start in second. He took 2-2-1 results to take out the round win and he showed great speed throughout the day.

"Coming into the weekend with a lot of hard work and a lot of starts practice. I am very proud to take home first place and jump up into third in the championship," said a happy Oscar.

Team Manager Shane Metcalfe was very happy with his young chargers, “The boys rode awesome today and I am happy to say they all had class wins. It was a pity Nick got taken down in the first turn of the final 125 race but that’s racing.

“I feel like I let the boys down by not being able to win as well, but it was bound to happen one day, the young guys are pushing hard this year and have stepped it up to a new level. I pushed as hard as I could to take 6-5-5 results for 6th overall.”
