SA-YJR Young Gun Impresses at Victorian MX Champs

14 Apr 2016

Round two of the Victorian State titles were held at Warnambool this past weekend and Alex Larwood from the SA – YJR team headed over to test the waters in the Big Wheel 85cc 12-U16 years A grade field.

Alex entered the round with great confidence following a strong couple of weeks practicing leading up to this event but a bad start in moto one would see him come from the rear of the pack. Larwood worked his way through the field and charged forward to a ninth place and in the process clock the third fastest time in the field.

Seeing this info after the race gave him a confidence boost and he came out in moto two with a great start and to run third for the moto. The final race seen another solid start but a little mistake dropped him back to fourth position for the race. His 9-3-4 results gave him fourth for the round in a great showing for the young gun.

"I was really happy with how things went today,” Larwood commented. “My bike ran awesome and it was just that I messed up my first start was the only real problem I had. I’m really pumped with my results today and it was awesome to race some of the faster guys in Australia,” he said.

SA-YJR Team Manager Shane Metcalfe was very happy with Alex's performance. "Alex has been training really hard and he is one determined little dude. I am very happy for him to be doing so well this early in the season against the older kids in only his third race on the big wheel YZ85, he is definitely a force to be reckoned with," commented Metcalfe.
