Nick Day in red hot form at the SA MX Champs
Another great weekend for Alex Larwood

SAYJR continue to surge at State MX Champs

30 Jul 2014

Keith was the site of Round 3 of the SA MX Titles with this being the first major race the club has held in over 30 years and they didn't disappoint the eager competitors. The team was a man down this round as Thomas Larwood broke his collar bone in a practice crash a couple weeks prior to the event which is a huge blow as Thomas was just starting to shine. In his absence Nick Day and Alex Larwood put on a show that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Once again Nick Day lined up on board his YZ250F and YZ125 and he came to Keith to try and extend his points leads and that's exactly what he did. He put his best foot forward and stamped his dominance in both classes taking six moto wins for the days from six starts. His starts weren't great but he showed he doesn't need to holeshot to win races, fighting back and making calculated clean passes on his way to the front, it was great to watch.

"I'm pumped with my rides today. I felt great and the track was super rough and rutted which was awesome to race on. My bikes were great and the thanks to everyone on the team for their support," said Day.

Young gun Alex Larwood also took home two class wins on both 9-U12yrs 85cc and 10-U13yrs 65cc classes. Taking five dominating wins from six starts, Alex once again showed he could be the future of SA Motocross. He is improving every round which is scary for his competition, his speed and line choice once the track roughed up was exceptional.

"I am happy to get the win today. The track was sweet and I had a fun days racing," said young Alex.

SAYJR Team Manager Shane Metcalfe was impressed with his hard charges.

"Both Nick and Alex rode great today. They showed that they are both moving forward and growing their skills to handle the rutted track with total control. It was a real bummer with Thomas injured but unfortunately I guess that is all a part of the journey," said Metcalfe.

The next round of SA MX is set to be held at the Renmark Motocross Track on the 16/17th August.
