SAYJR Weather the Storm In Renmark

28 Jun 2013

Renmark was the venue for Round four of the South Australian Motocross Championships this past weekend. Under grey skies and persistent drizzle, the SA-YJR boys did their best with all three riders finishing on the podium for the day.

Thomas Larwood came to Renmark with one thing on his mind, to continue his winning form and build his points lead in the championship chase in thee 9 to 11 years 85cc class. Thomas had great results over the three motos finishing with 2-1-2 results for the round victory. His smart acing and patience were the keys to his success.

"I am really happy to win the round as it was tough today. My bike worked awesome and I managed to get a few more points in the championship so, I couldn’t be happier," said young Larwood.

Oscar Maule wanted to continue on from his previous rounds result. Oscar scored 6-3-2 results for third overall ion the 12 to 15 years 85cc division which was a great result racing in very trying conditions. Oscar showed good speed and he belongs up the pointy end of this field.

"I had a fun day which is strange as I usually don’t like the mud and it bucketed down in our last race. But I seemed to get better in it as the day went on and now, I don’t mind it,” said Oscar after his final moto.

Nick Day had been practicing hard since the previous round as he wants to achieve his goal of winning both the 125cc and 250cc class. He took 1-4-1 results for 2nd on his YZ125 and 3-2-5 results on board his YZ250F for 4th overall. Some crashes and pure frustration cost him from getting what he came for.

"I had one of those weekends where nothing seemed to go my way. The harder I tried the worse it was so I need to learn to relax in these conditions and not try and fight the bike," stated Nick.

Team Manager Shane Metcalfe geared up this weekend on board his YZ250 2 stroke for a change of scenery. Metty rode strong all day but never looked at home on the wet track and finished with 4-4-3 results for third overall for the day, not bad for the veteran racer.

"I really enjoyed today even though I struggled with the track conditions. I didn’t have the YZ450F power to drag me out of corners like I’m used to. The track got rough and rutted today which is great to see," said Metcalfe.
