Styke Surfs the Sand of Hervey Bay

31 Jul 2013

Luke Styke made it six wins from seven rounds with another impressive performance at round seven of the MX Nationals held at Hervey Bay in Queensland.

On board his Serco Yamaha YZ250F, Styke continues to stamp his authority on the MX2 championship with a clean sweep of the round, taking 1-1 results in the two points paying motos. The round victory now sees his lead in the championship out to 91 points with just three rounds remaining but Styke refuses to take his eyes of the prize and lessons learnt from 2012 mean he will not rest on his laurels.

“To be honest, I didn’t feel that I rode that well today, especially race two,” Styke said. “I really didn't hit lines well, I paddled my feet in turns and spent the whole moto staring at my front guard. I need to ride better than that if I want to keep winning as the guys behind me are starting to ride well.

“It was a tough track for bike set up as the sand has a hard base to it and we tried a few different set ups during the day but maybe the problem was just me.

“We still have three rounds to go and anything can happen so I can’t rest now and coast it in. I have big goals for next year and I need to keep moving forward as a racer if I want to achieve them,” Styke ends.

The MX Nationals now moves to Swann Hill for round eight of the championship. With six races and 210 points still on offer, Styke still has work to do to close out this championship.
