28 Mar 2011

The new look Victorian Yamaha Junior Racing Team impressed in its first hit out of 2011 with riders winning races at two separate events and their team manager showing he still has what it takes to be a national contender.

The trio of Billy Jackson, Matthew Hopkins Talty and Ross Beaton headed to Newry for the opening round of the Gippsland Series and came away with plenty of silverware.

Billy Jackson, in his debut ride for the team won the 250cc ‘A Grade’ division on the back of his 5-1-1 results. Jackson received a penalty in the opening moto for jumping under a yellow flag, but stormed home in the final two races to win the day and start his time off on a Yamaha on the right foot.

Jackson was ably backed up by Matthew Hopkins Talty who took home dual podium positions. The young charger took home second overall on his YZ85cc and matched that results again finishing second in the 100 to 150cc ‘A Grade’ class.

And not to be outdone for his young team of upstarts, Beaton himself climbed on board his YZ450F and charged to three races wins from three starts in the ‘A Grade’ Open class. Beaton beat a quality field of riders and was in fine form as he juggled management and racing roles.

Meanwhile, the other member of Victorian Yamaha Junior Racing, Joel Milosevic headed for the opening of Victoria’s Western Motocross Series and posted a perfect day taking three from three in the 100 to 150cc class on board his YZ144.

“It was a great start to the year by all the guys,” commented Ross Beaton. “The day flowed smoothly and everybody put in a big effort to ensure they got the results they deserved. I couldn’t be happier the way it went and hope this is just the start of a successful year for the team,” states Beaton.
