Justin Hart airs it out on route to a podium finish in WA

Wellard Yamaha on the Box in WA

The Wellard Yamaha Junior Development Team ventured into the hills East of Perth to battle out the fourth MX Championship State Round held at Chidlow’s Eric Walter Park. The weather was cold but fine which made for a good racing surface and a change to last year’s quagmire.

Injured riders Daniel Strickland (Five Star Yamaha) & Kyle Webster (North City Yamaha) who are still unable to compete made the trip to the hardpack circuit to support the rest of the team. The pressure was on the remaining three riders to keep the Yamaha name at the front of the pack.

Pro team riders Jayden Rykers (Mandurah City Yamaha), Justin Hart (Causeway Yamaha) & Satellite rider Liam Whisler (Cully’s Yamaha) needed to bring home some good results to offset the bad luck experienced by the team recently.

Jayden Rykers whose talent and determination has really shone through since stepping onto the YZ 125cc machine once again put in a head strong and talented performance throughout the event. 1-1-2 finishes saw him take the top step on the podium and increase his Championship lead.

Jayden clearly dominated the first two races, but not having the best start in the 3rd moto found the young gun needing to pull everything out to regain the lead, which he did. However it was only short lived, when a tough block pass by another rider brought him to the ground.

With no thought of giving up, Rykers remounted and scorched his way through the pack coming up just short of the much wanted win in the last race.

“I’m disappointed with that last race, I gave it my all to win but I just ran out of time after hitting the deck from the block pass, so I have to happy with a second and the overall win,” Jayden’s comment to his Team Manager.

Pro rider Justin Hart was also on fire showing his amazing ability to pick through the pack in the first moto from seventh place to take a spectacular win. He backed it up in the next two with a pair of seconds to make it back on the podium and move into striking distance of the Championship. He had his YZ 85cc machine on the throttle stop all day and displayed exactly how talented the youngest YJDT member is.

Not forgetting our quiet achiever Satellite rider Liam Whisler also YZ 85cc mounted who put in three hard fought races for the day. Liam came in with a second in the first moto and placed well enough in the next two to be rewarded with a third place out right today.

“It was great to see the boys turn it on today and rack up some good Championship points. With only three riders here today and all of them making the podium shows we have depth and the guys can pull it out when they need to” Stated Team Manager Peter Strickland.
