Yamaha Dominate Support Classes at MX Nats

Yamaha Racing capped off a great weekend for the blue brand with class victories in the Rookies and Pro Quads at round two of the MX Nationals at Murray Bridge.

With a weekend off for the MXD division, the slot in the program was filled with the 13-15 years 250cc Rookies class and the Pro Quads, both classes dominated by Yamaha riders.

Queensland Yamaha Junior Racing’s Nathan Crawford made the long trip down to South Australia for the Rookie Cup and impressed with a strong performance. Crawford qualified fastest then went on to win both motos contested with wire to wire victories.

The Rookies are scheduled for another round later in the series at the championship finale. Crawford is now in the box seat after his round one success and looks forward to the next Rookie round to be staged in his home state, at Hervey Bay.

“It is awesome that WEM gave the junior riders exposure at this level and the chance to watch and ride on the same tracks as the pros. It was a long trip down and back from Queensland but it was an unreal track to race and I learnt a lot from watching the pros up close when I wasn’t racing,” Crawford explains.

Yamaha mounted Christopher Bosnakis did likewise in the Pro Quad division taking both moto wins on board his YZF450. The Murray Bridge circuit provided a huge challenge for the Quad riders but Bosnakis handled the tough conditions well and won both races. The Quads are slated for two rounds during the MX Nationals with the final round at Coolum in September.

“Round two proved to be a very successful round for Yamaha,” stated Yamaha’s Ray Howard. Both the CDR and Serco teams enjoyed a good day and it was topped off with victories in the Rookies and Pro Quads. Out of the eight races contested on the day, Yamaha won six of them and on behalf of Yamaha, I congratulate Nathan, Chris and the CDR and Serco teams on a job well done at Murray Bridge,” he ends.
