Billy Jackson moves into the lead in the Victoria Junior Motocross Championships with one round to go.

YJR Take Control in Vic State Champs

21 Jun 2011

Victoria’s headline Yamaha Junior Racing duo of Joel Milesevic and Billy Jackson have charged to the front of their respective classes after round three of the Victoria Junior Motocross Championship were run over the weekend at the sandy Rosebud track.

Both riders turned in fine performances and now lead the 250 and 125cc divisions but one round remaining the duo must stay on their game if they want to bring home more championship glory for the V- YJR team.

Billy Jackson leapt to the top of the 250CC A Grade class after finishing second at Rosebud in another consistent performance. Jackson finished the three points paying motos in 2-3-2 places and moves six points clear of the second placed rider after entering the round 14 down. His smart riding and well constructed racing is what gave him the edge over the weekend.

Joel Milesevic worked double duties on the weekend, competing in both the 125 and 250cc divisions. He again dominated the 125 class with 2-1-1 results and has a comfortable gap in the championship table while he finished a credible fourth overall on the 250. Milesevic is only new to the four stroke machine but is learning fast and his track speed is good, bad starts are what let him down on the weekend.

“I'm happy with the way the guys rode,” said team manager, Ross Beaton. “Billy was smart in the way that he dealt with the sandy conditions and didn’t make as many mistakes as his rivals. His reward was a good result on the day and the lead in the championship.”

“For Joel, he was again fast and he obviously rides a 125 exceptionally well. He is still come to grips with the 250F, but each race is getting better and he will be up with the front runners before long.”

The fourth and final round of the Victorian Junior Motocross Championship is on at Albury, the weekend of July 30 and 31. The V-YJR team will look to put the finishing touches on what has been a successful championship for them so far.
