Whitianga | Coromandel Coast | Spearfishing | All Year Round*
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions we have decided to place all International adventures on hold until further notice. Please register your interest and be the first to know when we are back up and ready to go.
The Coromandel Peninsula is rich in Maori history, having been occupied for more than 1000 years. The area’s boat-building history is due in part to the abundance of fish in the local waters which are protected from the Pacific Ocean by the peninsula’s geographical shape. The region is also famous for its picturesque coastline.
The experienced team from Whitiangler Fishing Charters will take you on a full day spearfishing trip, chasing large schools of King Fish. Visiting Cathedral Cove, Orua Cave, and Gemstone Bay Marine Reserve are also on the itinerary – weather permitting.
This opportunity to dive one of the great fishing regions of New Zealand is open to inexperienced and experienced divers, however, a good level of fitness is required as you will be in the water swimming for an extended period, holding your breath while diving and climbing in and out of the boat. A good level of confidence in the water is also required as you will be using a speargun and handling the large fish you catch.
The trained Whitiangler Fishing Charters crew will conduct a full safety briefing before you are entering the water, including everything you need to know about using a spear gun.
More advanced divers will be given the opportunity the dive into more advanced locations.
