Powering a Cleaner and Greener Future
Yamaha Motor Australia has stepped up its support for Boe Langford, founder of the not-for-profit Outback Cleanups Australia (OCA) charity, by donating a Yamaha EF2000IS inverted generator. Supplied by Yamaha Motor Australia’s Power Products division, the new generator will assist Langford and his team to continue their vital work of removing rubbish from some of Australia’s most remote and pristine environments.
The work of Outback Cleanups Australia often takes Langford to areas that are hard to access, including Australia’s vast outback and isolated waterways. In these challenging conditions, he relies on a rooftop car topper and a range of essential equipment. However, power supply has been an ongoing challenge, as his battery-powered equipment need to be charged using his vehicle’s electrical system. This is where the new EF2000IS generator inverter is set to be a game-changer.
Up until now, I’ve relied on battery power, and those batteries need to be charged using my vehicle. It wasn’t the most economical system and not something that was viable long-term," explained Boe. “Having the Yamaha EF2000IS provides me with a constant power supply that can go all day and all night while sipping on fuel at an incredibly economical rate. It’s also unbelievably quiet, so I’m not upsetting the area’s serenity when I’m camping out in the middle of nowhere.
By providing the EF2000IS generator, we hope to make it easier for Boe and his team to continue their vital work, and we’re excited to see the difference this partnership makes in protecting our environment.
Langford, a 28-year-old environmentalist who calls Australia’s deserts and remote regions home, founded Outback Cleanups Australia in 2019. Since then, the initiative has cleared more than 77,000 kilograms of rubbish pollution from the nation’s beaches, bushland, and waterways.
His goal is not just to clean up Australia’s remote areas but to inspire Australians to take pride in their environment and shift the perception that rubbish collection is a punishment or someone else’s job. “The assistance of companies such as Yamaha Motor Australia – with its well-planned Long-Term Vision and a strong commitment to its Sustainable Development Goals – means I’m confident we can continue to make a difference,” said Langford.
The inspiring work of Boe Langford and the partnership between Yamaha Motor Australia and Outback Cleanups Australia is featured in the eighth episode of Yamaha’s #UnitedByYamaha brand campaign series released in October, 2024. Titled Cleaning Up Outback, the short film offers a closer look at Langford’s mission to keep Australia beautiful, as well as the role Yamaha plays in powering that dream.
