Yamaha Motor Australia was incorporated in June 1983, becoming part of a rapidly growing international Yamaha corporation with subsidiaries all around the world. Yamaha Motor Australia Pty. Ltd. began distribution in New South Wales on 1 July 1983. Two months later the Victorian distribution came online.

1980-1989

Yamaha commenced Western Australian and Queensland distribution on 1 April 1987 and 1 July 1989 respectively. 1989 also saw a new state-of-the-art National Spare Parts warehouse built at Wetherill Park in Sydney's rapidly growing Western Suburbs. The expansive premises centralised the national distribution of Yamaha Genuine Spare Parts and Accessories.

1990-1999

The start of a new decade coincided with the Yamaha Motor Australia Head Office to its present location at Wetherill Park, adjacent to the National Spare Parts warehouse opened a year earlier. Still in use today, the impressive two-level office building features an open-span distribution warehouse for the full range of Yamaha products.

To diversify its activities in Australia, Yamaha purchased motorcycle accessory wholesaler Addfast Accessories as well as Rose Bay Marina and Dory's Seafood Restaurant. Yamaha also began producing a range of fibreglass boats at its new subsidiary company, Southwind Marine Products, located at Ourimbah north of Sydney. Further diversification in the marine field took place throughout the 1990s, with the acquisition of Queensland marina construction company, Bob McKay International Marinas.

2000-Present

Over the past two decades, Yamaha has continued to successfully introduce new products to the marketplace. It has always met market demand by offering better quality, higher performance products that fully utilise Yamaha's advanced technology. The coveted Yamaha logo now adorns a wide range of recreational and industrial products, including motorcycles, scooters, ROVs, snowmobiles, outboard marine engines, personal watercraft, unmanned helicopters, golf cars, go-kart engines, power generators, water and sludge pumps, industrial engines and much more.
