Yamaha Financial Services Raise Funds For Mental Health
Yamaha Financial Services fundraising team, Chain Reaction, has emerged victorious in a fiercely competitive fundraising mission. Their exceptional efforts resulted in the highest dollar value of donations to support the Black Dog Institute and its ongoing campaign to increase mental health awareness.
The Chain Reaction team - made up of team Captain Scott Armstrong, Cameron Meehan, Christian Castillo, Lydia Sekuloski, Vanessa Tannous, and Nicola Rogheto - raised $701 for Black Dog Institute and clocked up 156km on their Yamaha YDX-Moro 07 e-MTB.
Andrew Flanagan, captain of the Wheelie Funny team, along with fellow team members Andrew O’Reilly, Darren Wedd, Michelle Eastburn, and Carmen Tan, clocked up the highest kilometre count of the three teams with 202km pedalled on their YDX-Moro 07. Their energetic efforts claimed them the $500 bonus provided by Yamaha Financial Services as the team to cover the most kilometres. However, they were unable to dislodge Chain Reaction from the top of the fundraising table.
The Holey Spokes team - Craig Lizars (Capt.), Aaron Gambrill, Mark Thompson, Catherine Borg, Bill Fares and Shamirn Yousef - were also commended for their fundraising and kilometre-collecting efforts.
Accepting the highest fundraising award on behalf of the Chain Reaction team, Vanessa Tannous said it was a great feeling to have contributed to such a worthwhile cause. She also revealed that the fundraiser has sparked an interest in e-MTB riding. “My dad and I are getting out on the bike,” she revealed. “It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors while being active. We now spend our weekends discovering new places to ride.”
Presenting the award, Sophie Mackay from Black Dog Institute said that every dollar raised is essential. “All fundraising events, big or small, are important because they also raise awareness about mental health as well as raising funds for future projects,” she said. “The YFS event had many benefits, including showing staff that being active in the outdoors is a great way to build good mental health and be fit physically.”
Nicola Rogheto, National Sales and Marketing Manager for Yamaha Financial Services also hailed the event a success and said planning was already underway for the next fundraising team event. “We utilised Yamaha products and created a competitive team atmosphere that promoted a healthy lifestyle and assisted Black Dog Institute; I’d call it a win-win situation,” he said.”
