Yamaha Motor has showcased its YE-01 electric motocross concept model at EICMA 2025, the International Two-Wheeler Exhibition held in Milan, Italy. Developed in partnership with French electric motorcycle specialist Electric Motion SAS, the YE-01 explores a fun, off-road focused pathway towards a carbon-neutral future.
Yamaha already has strong form in electric competition, having raced the TY-E electric trials bike in the FIM Trial World Championship and currently supplying the powertrain for the Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E Team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The learnings from these demanding race programs, from electric control to thermal management and overall system durability, are being applied directly to the YE-01 project.
The goal is to field the YE-01 in the new MXEP electric motocross racing series from 2026, using top-level motocross competition to accelerate development of Yamaha’s next generation of EV technology.
This concept model also reflects Yamaha Motor Group’s Environmental Plan 2050*, which targets carbon neutrality across the entire business and product life cycle by 2050. Electrification is one of several technology pathways Yamaha is pursuing to reach that goal.
With YE-01, Yamaha is signalling its commitment to bringing the unique character and excitement of electric power to off-road riders, while continuing to deliver the fun, performance and quality expected from the Yamaha brand.
