International Women’s Day 2026 | #GiveToGain

A Special Celebration for Barbara Murphy, 36 Years in the Making

International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on 8 March, is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women across social, business, cultural, sporting, and political spheres, and to reaffirm a shared commitment to building more inclusive workplaces and communities.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2026 is #GiveToGain, a reminder that progress accelerates when people actively give time, knowledge, support, opportunity, and encouragement. In return, everyone gains: stronger teams, better outcomes, and workplaces where talent can thrive.

This year, Yamaha Motor Australia marks International Women’s Day by recognising a remarkable milestone from within its own team. YMA recently said farewell to Barbara Murphy, National Events Manager, who finished up with Yamaha Motor Australia after an extraordinary 36-year career that touched just about every corner of the business. In many ways, Barbara’s journey is classic #GiveToGain story, built on the quiet consistency, leading by example, and getting the job done.

Joining Yamaha Motor Australia almost four decades ago, Barbara's tenure even predated the construction of Yamaha Motor Australia’s Wetherill Park head office. Over the decades that followed, she took on a wide range of roles as the business grew and evolved, building a reputation for professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering work ethic.

As National Events Manager she was central to planning and delivering experiences that brought Yamaha’s brand to life. From the first brief to the final pack-down, Barbara was hands-on, helping to create memorable Yamaha experiences for staff, dealers, partners, and customers. She was also part of the generation that helped open doors and create new opportunities for women in the workplace, contributing to foundations that today’s female workforce continues to build on.

Yamaha Motor Australia thanked Barbara for her 36 years of dedication with a farewell celebration befitting of someone who has given so much to one company.

As we mark International Women’s Day, Yamaha Motor Australia salutes the inspiration and guidance provided by women and reiterates its commitment to fostering inclusivity and empowerment within our company.
