GYTR-YJR State Champ Surge

Queensland riders faced off at round five of the Sunshine State Motocross Series at the Echo Valley Circuit in Toowoomba. Levi Rogers and Jack Cannon flew the team flag again with pride bringing down three class wins and a second place in a great effort by the two young guns.

Rogers made it two rounds in a row with a clean sweep of his events over the weekend. Rogers contested both the 13-14 years 125 and 13-14 years 250cc and dominated the day taking the perfect six from six and moved well clear in the series points on both bikes.

Rogers barely put a foot wrong over the weekend with just one round remaining, just needs a smart opening race at the last round to put both series victories to bed and gap off a great campaign.

Not to be out done, Jake Cannon rolled into his favourite track of the series and turned up the speed. Cannon was on fire all day as he contested 10-11 years 65cc and the 9-11 years 85cc. He won the day on his 65 with 1-1-2 results, his second-round win on the trot and finished second on his 85 with 2-2-3 results.

Cannon now holds down second in the series on his 65cc and third on his 85 with one round to go.

The Tasmanian based riders enjoyed similar success as they competed in round three of their state championships with Angus Pearce and Lochie Smith doing the business. Unfortunately, the day was shorted to two rounds due to injury, but the GYTR YJR riders looked good in the Apple Isle.

Pearce went on a winning spree and took another perfect weekend as he won all events contested in the 9-11 years 85cc and the 9-13 years 65cc. The weekend wasn’t the first time Pearce has left the track with a clean sheet and his championship lead in both classes continues to grow.

Smith did likewise in the 15 years class, taking the race wins to win the day and close in on the championship lead.

The New South Wales crew were also in action at the Lakes round of the East Coast Motocross series. The third round of the series saw Ryder Kingsford land on the podium in second place in the 12-13 years 85cc group while Bayley Clancy claimed a third and a fifth overall in his two claases in a good outing for the team.  

And finally, the opening round of the South Australian Motocross Championship roared to life at the Riverland circuit in Renmark. With Alex Larwood sidelined due a to recent collarbone injury, it was left to new recruit, Wil Carpenter to handle the race duties.

And he did it well, taking 2-1-2 results in the three motos contested to finish the day in second place in the 10-11 years 65cc. He also notched up 2-3-5 results in the 9-11 years 85cc division to equal third, fourth on a count back.

It was a great start to the state championship for Carpenter as he is well placed in both classes and in good form as he works towards round two.
