The combination of high performance and utter dependability mean the four-stroke enduro racer is the machine of choice for the gruelling annual event.
Riding for 24 hours straight is tough on both rider and machine and requires superior concentration, high levels of skill and the fitment of additional lighting gear. Not to mention the ability to withstand extreme temperature changes. The gruelling event normally results in around half the riders failing to reach the finish line.
But it’s all in a day’s work for Yamaha’s WRF range as six out of the top ten finishers showed at Eudunda, South Australia on the weekend of 13/14 July.
Congratulations go to WR450F-mounted Sean Throup and WR250F rider Riley Graham. And special mention to MC Trader editor and dirt bike novice Chris Harris who attempted this tough event – his first race – on a WR250F. Read about his exploits in Volume #350 of MC Trader.
