Beaton Wins in Warwick

Monster Energy CDR Yamaha motocross racer, Jed Beaton, has claimed victory at round five of the 2025 ProMX Championship, finishing with 1-2 results on the day and extending his lead in the MX1 championship.
Beaton came into the weekend with a thirteen-point lead and has now added two more to make it a fifteen-point buffer with three rounds to go. Beaton needed a good round to keep his main rival, Kyle Webster, at arm’s length as the championship heads to towards the business end of the season.

It was the first time the Warwick circuit had hosted a national round of the ProMX Championship, and the track was in perfect conditions on a magic winters’ day in Queensland. Beaton started his weekend well taking the fastest lap in Superpole and establish some confidence heading into race one.

The MX1 field charged into the first turn and Beaton was well placed inside the top five. The intensity was high on the opening laps as riders tried to gain some ascendancy in the early going.

Beaton was able to move forward, capitalise on a small mistake from Webster and then hit the lead by lap three. From there he was never headed and control the race with authority has he kept the pack at bay.  He crossed the finish line with an eight second gap over Nathan Crawford in second and Kyle Webster in third.

Race two and it proved to another epic Beaton / Webster battle. Beaton trailed Webster in the opening lap as the pair sat in third and fourth respectively, but it wasn’t long before the had muscled their way to the front and it was man on man for the next 20 minutes.

Again, the charged away and engaged in their own personal dual. Webster would pull a small gap, only for Beaton to reel it back in with both riders pushing the limits on the super rough and demanding Warwick circuit.

With two laps to go, things went up a notch as Beaton put in a final surge. He came right to the back tyre of Webster and desperately looking to find a way past. He looked up the inside, then tried they outside but couldn’t make a pass and the pair flashed across the finish line with Webster taking the win, and Beaton right in his shadow.

The 1-2 for the day give Beaton the round win and he keeps the points leaders red plate as the series moves to Canberra in two weeks’ time.

“It was important that I made some points up today and keep the championship lead in my hands,” Beaton offers. “I knew Kyle would be strong here as this type of soil is what he likes, so I needed to stand my ground and have a good round, and we were able to do that.

“I would love to have won the last race and thought I had an area of the track that I was better but just couldn’t make it happen. Kyle is smart enough to cover if he feels I have an advantage somewhere, so I think I need to be a little more aggressive when I think I can make a pass and just get it done.

“The team did a great job as always. We made a bike change after qualifying and it was the right move, and it was much better in the races.

“Next up is Canberra and it is nothing like we raced today. The dirt is rock hard there and it’s a jump filled track, so conditions will be much different than today and again, I need to keep my head in the game and focused on getting the best result I can out of each and every race,” Beaton ends.

The Canberra round is set for July 6.
