Ride the Race Bikes
The day after the final round of the 2026 ProMX championships, Yamaha Racing celebrated their success in the series be allowing a large group of industry media race and experience the team race bikes.
It is rare for this to happen, but when 20 moto journalists rolled into Queensland Moto Park on Monday morning, they had the chance to ride the race bikes of the CDR, Yamalube and WBR teams, as they come off the track the day prior.
The championship winning bikes of Jed Beaton, Hayden Draper and Lachlan Turner were popular as were the bikes of Aaron Tanti, Noah Ferguson, Seth Burchell and Jack Deveson.
They got to share the track with the pro riders, and it was also a chance for the team mechanics to spin a few laps on the bikes they have spent countless hours preparing during the season. A rare sight on the day included a Lala Turner (250cc) and Blake Bohannon (85cc) bike swap and a mid-moto race might have broken out between the pair
Then just to wrap up the day, there might or might not have been a relay race with each team having a pro rider, a mechanic and two media people. This race may or may not have been won by Team Ferguson in a tight finish over Team Turner. Allegedly!
Thanks to all the riders and teams have given the media almost unlimited access throughout the day and it was a great way to celebrate a successful ProMX Championship. And if anyone has seen Blake Bohannon, please let us know, his last sighting was riding Lachlan Turner's race bike, and we wouldn’t mind it back. Thank you!
2027 YZ250F
The 2027 YZ250F was unveiled to a large contingent of media and Yamaha dealers on Tuesday. 15 bikes were wheeled out from those gathered and as well as a formal presentation of the bike and interviews with the pro riders.
First Impressions are extremely positive with all commenting on the performance of the bike and felt it was a big step forward for the YZ250F, which is already the class leader and highest selling motocross bike in Australia.
They are now available in Yamaha dealers, so get in there now and be one of the first to own one. You won’t be disappointed.
ProMX Wrap
As mentioned, it was a successful championship for Yamaha with four championships won in the series and to underline the performance the riders in those championships, Jed Beaton, Lachlan Turner, Hayden Draper and Blake Bohannon all won their respective classes before the final moto of the series.
There are also several impressive talking points to come out of the weekend.

Luke Zelinkski picked up the Andrew Macfarlane reward for the highest placed privateer in the premier MX1 class. The Zelinski’s are a dedicated family and to finish seventh in the championship is a great result with the only riders above him on major manufacturer teams.
Levi Rogers continues to show great speed and is a guru at qualifying and SuperPole. When he needs to pull out a hot lap, Rogers cranks it to 11 and gets it done. He finished eighth in the championship, despite missing the opening rounds and will want to build on it for the 2027 season.
Madi Simpson finished fourth on the day, just missing the podium. Simpson finished the season strongly in the final two rounds but has no time to rest on her laurels as she is back in action this weekend at the Aus Enduro championship.
It was also the final round for Souya Nakajima in Australia. Nakajima will compete in the MXGP class in Darwin and then look to do the final round of the Japanese Motocross championships were hopefully he can apply what he has learnt in Australia and be a better racer.

The Weekend AheadIts back to the bush this weekend for rounds nine and ten of the Australian Enduro Championships at Kempsey, NSW.
There has been a break in the series while the desert events like Finke and Hattah were run, but now it's back to tree racing and the Yamaha Teams and riders are coming in hot.
Wil Ruprecht is rested up and ready to go for Kempsey. He has been the dominant rider so far in the 2026 season but was felling battered and bruised after the last round and needed to time to heal and rest, so the break came at the right time.
He won last year in Kempsey and likes the terrain, so expect another strong performance from the man already leading the championship.
He won’t have teammate, Maximus Purvis alongside him this weekend. Purvis damaged his ribs in a fall at Hattah and reinjured them in the same place as a previous crash, so will sit this round out and make a full recovery.
Leading the E1 class, is Yamaha’s Cooper Sheidow. Sheidow has been busy contested Hattah as well as the SA24 where he took another win on the big WR450F. For this weekend its back to the 250 and out to strengthen his position in the championship.
The Women’s class will be one to watch this weekend as Rachael Archer joins AEC with the JGR Yamaha team. Archer, originally from New Zealand, who raced in the US for several seasons, but is now in Australia and is ready to go this weekend.
But the competition will be deep as joining in for this round will be Danielle McDonald. With a break in US competition, McDonald will use the weekend off from the US to keep active and race the local series for the first time since 2023.
In the other divisions, Marcus Nowland will be looking to rebound to the top of the Under 19 podium with a strong performance at Kempsey. Nowland currently leads the class, but with just four rounds to go, he will want to keep the competition at arm’s length.
In the junior class, Harley Hutton leads the J4 division while Lorna Lock continues her strangle hold in the Junior Girls.
Action starts at 8am on both Saturday and Sunday.
