What is the defect?
The bolt fixing the drive chain guard to the swing arm may loosen due to vibration during riding because of inappropriate design.
What are the hazards?
There is a possibility that the screw may dislodge from the chain guard, allowing it to hit the drive chain and break. In the worst case, the broken part may fall onto the road resulting in a hazard for traffic or other road users.
What should customers do?
To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign, whereby affected MT07 & XSR700 models must have the collar and bolt replaced with the countermeasure ones.
You should contact your local Yamaha Dealer to set up an appointment to have your model remedied free of charge.
For further information please contact Yamaha via email: cr@yamaha-motor.com.au or phone: 1300 277 137.
See www.productsafety.gov.au for Australian product recall information.
This repair is conducted free of charge.
