What is the defect?
Front and rear brake shoes in affected ATVs may contain asbestos material.
This campaign includes parts purchased for routine service repairs on these affected ATVs.
The importation of asbestos or goods containing asbestos into Australia has been prohibited under the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1953 since 31st December 2003.
What are the hazards?
Available information indicates that these affected units do not pose a measurable health risk through normal use. Exposure to asbestos can result in asbestos-related diseases.
What should customers do?
Consumers should not perform any maintenance, repairs or modifications that may involve contact with or disturbance of the brake shoes, on these affected ATVs.
Registered owners will be contacted about this recall by certified mail. Parts are available for this modification. Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest Yamaha dealer to make an appointment to have the front and rear brake shoes replaced with new parts that do not contain asbestos material.
