Podium Positions Continue for QLD YJR

Round three of the 2015 Shell Advance Sunshine State Motocross Series hit the tight confines of the Kilcoy circuit over the weekend with the Queensland Yamaha Junior Racing team doing themselves proud after another top shelf performance.

Hunter Lawrence and Levi Rogers put their YZ’s at the head of the field throughout the day and are extremely well placed in the series as we reach the halfway point.

Hunter Lawrence continues to stamp his authority on the 2015 series with dominant racing at each and every round. He again showed his class with a near perfect days racing winning all three races in both the 15 years 250cc and the 13-15 years 125cc classes.

His race wins didn’t come easy in the 125 class as race one saw him involved in a first turn pile up that left him well down the field but he relentlessly charged his way back through pack to take the win.

“When I first started racing it was here at Kilcoy so it’s nice to come back and race here now that I’m getting a bit older. The track was in great shape today with some good ruts and challenging sections so a big thank-you to the club for their track prep.

“My bikes worked great today and it continues the good start to 2015 I have had. I have worked hard with my Dad on my technique and it’s been paying off, so that’s cool,” Lawrence ends.

Levi Rogers took control of race one in the 9-11 years 85cc event and looked comfortable out front for the opening laps. He then got cross-rutted and fell while in the lead and then had to charge his way back to fourth at the finish.

He rebounded well on the next two races to finish in second place and his 4-2-2 results gave him second overall for the day. He now sits second in the series and continues to show improvement in his racing.

“I made a mistake in that first race and just tried to change my line and I crashed. It took me some time to get it out of the mud and get going. The other two races were ok, I just didn’t get the best starts to run with Jett right at the front.”

Round four of the series hits the sands of Hervey Bay in two weeks’ time.
