Yamaha's unmanned helicopters are designed to tackle a wide range of commercial applications with speed and efficiency, providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional aerial services.
The FAZER platform is the most technologically advanced UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) offered by Yamaha Motor Australia's Sky Division.
With more than four decades of UAV systems development to call on, Yamaha's Sky Division has built a reputation as a market leader, delivering high-tech problem-solving solutions to a wide range of industries.

Designed to tackle a wide range of commercial applications, the FAZER helicopter has a proven track record that stretches well beyond agricultural spraying and weed/pest eradication. It's impressive payload capacity and sensor systems have seen it excel in remote and inaccessible terrain, surveying landscapes as well as quick and efficient product delivery.
First developed in 1983, Yamaha Sky Division's fleet of UAVs benefit from four decades of progress. In Japan more than 2700 unmanned Yamaha helicopters are in operation. Their agricultural use alone covers more than one million hectares per year, and the valuable data collected ensures ongoing technological advancements.
From payload carrying to land surveying, and even equipment delivery, the Fazer has the ability to increase efficiency and reduce costs. A recent study calculated that a Yamaha Fazer more than halved the per-hectare agricultural spraying time when compared to traditional land-based methods. Cost and time-saving opportunities are available across a wide range of applications.
Being much smaller, lighter, and quieter than conventional manned aircraft - such as full-sized helicopters - the FAZER has a greatly reduced impact on the environment. Its size and agility, and unmanned design also provides a major safety benefit. Staff can remain safe on the ground while the FAZER tackles more hazardous tasks.
The FAZER unmanned helicopter is Yamaha's most technologically advanced yet. With four decades of UAV experience built into its sophisticated design, the FAZER R and FAZER R G2 are Yamaha’s fastest and most powerful. The Fazer flies higher and further than ever before, while carrying a heavier payload.
FAZER Features
Lightweight Engine
Designed specifically for the FAZER, the compact and lightweight 390cc, horizontally opposed twin-cylinder four-stroke engine produces 20.6kW. Featuring electric start as well as a self-monitoring function that performs a check on all onboard systems prior to flight.
EVLOS and BVLOS
FAZER and its highly trained pilots are licenced to provide Visual Line of Sight (VLOS), Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flight plans. With a flight range of up to 90km, the FAZER's Autopilot system greatly expands its capabilities.
Lidar
Yamaha uses LiDAR to measure landscapes and other objects from the sky. The data is used to generate highly accurate 3D digital models. With flight times of up to 100minutes the FAZER can easily and efficiently map a large area.
Multiple Applications
In addition to its spraying and pest eradication abilities, FAZER can be fitted with laser scanners, LiDAR, and cameras to survey large areas. Payload transportation is also a specialty and can include an electric winch. The advanced autopilot system enables flight well beyond the line of sight.
Rotor Safety
The use of a rotor brake means the main rotor will come to a complete stop approximately 20 seconds after the engine is shut down. This increases safety and minimises refuelling times.
